A Brief Bio (Background, Academic Qualifications): Prof. ADEBAJO, Adeleke Clement who holds the Ife B.Pharm., M.Sc. and Ph.D. (Pharmacognosy) degrees, was appointed as a Junior Trainee Fellow in University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University OAU) in 1985 and steadily rose to become a full professor in 2007. He has taught all under-and post-graduate Pharmacognosy courses in OAU, Ile-Ife and other four Nigerian Universities, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Delta State University (Delsu), Abraka and University of Uyo (Uniyo), Uyo. In April 1991-February 1994, he was a Deutscher Akademischer Austauchdienst (DAAD) Sandwich Scholarship holder at the Institute für Pharmazeutische Chemie, W.W. Universität, Münster, Germany, has a 1991 Certificate of Proficiency (PNDS) in German Language of the Goethe Institute, Göttingen, Germany, and was a DAAD Senior Fellowship scholar (August-October, 2006) in Münster, Germany.

He had severally been the Head of Ife Pharmacognosy department, as well as head of Pharmacognosy departments in OOU, Uniyo and Delsu. Was also the Head, Department of Pharmacognosy and Herbal Medicine, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho, Ghana as well as the Acting Dean, School of Pharmacy, UHAS, Ho. Furthermore, he was Dean of the Faculties of Pharmacy in Ife, Abraka and Uyo. He is a member/executive officer of some international societies, including the German based Research Network of Natural Products against Neglected Diseases.

Has graduated thirteen postgraduate students, including two Ph.D. candidates, has 47 publications, 37 published conference abstracts, contributed significantly to the elucidation of anti-diabetic, anti-malarial and larvicidal agents from medicinal plants and establishment of plants’ activities related to these medical conditions, and is a reviewer of many international, regional and national journals.

His publications are evidence of his wide collaborations with other health and physical scientists, with collaborators in other continents in furtherance of his belief that it takes more than a discipline to make useful herbal drugs. Other numerous academic and administrative positions held in these Universities include Ife Vice-Dean, foundation Co-Editor-in-Chief of Ife Federal Government sponsored Ife Journal of Science and Technology, Vice-Chancellor Nominee for Ife Pro-VC appointment, Vice-Chairman (2013-15) Ife University Ceremonials Committee, was also a member of many accreditation panels of both Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria and National Universities Commission, assessor of professorial candidates of some Nigerian and Ghanaian Univerisites, member of the 2013 Scientific Committee of the 61st Annual Congress of the Society for Medicinal Plants and Natural Product Research (Gesellschaft für Arzneipflanzenforschung, GA), Münster, Germany, members and chairman of many statutory University Adhoc committees.

Conferences and Publications: Have attended over 40 international, regional and local conferences, have 20 and 17 published conference abstracts in international and national conferences, respectively; 47 publications in international and reputable peer reviewed local journals.
